In about 5 hours, I'm driving over Amanda's to drive her to Tucson Orthopedic for knee reconstruction surgery. Thanks to the evil genius of my friends and my boss, I've got all sorts of interesting pranks to pull on my poor, vicodin-addled friend. muahahahaha. I'll be hanging out with her for the next couple of days - playing nursemaid, keeping the house running, and raiding her stash of Hansen's mandarin lime soda. Ohhh, yes.

Tomorrow at oh-dark-thirty, I'm flying out of here. Thanks to the wackiness that is the airline routing system, I'm bouncing through Atlanta to get to Moline, IL. Ugh. Nothing like overshooting your destination by a few states  :P
Saturday morning, we're loading up the minivan with kids, pets, and food, and hitting the road back to Tucson. I'm going to try to find wifi hotspots along the way, but I might be out of touch until Tuesday sometime. Guess I'll do the LJ "no posting day" boycott by proxy.  heh.

This should be quite the adventure. Here's hoping we avoid the floods and thrills of tornado alley. See y'all on the flipside!

Well, it turned out to be a good thing that I left the wrimo gathering when I did. I got home to find a message on the answering machine. My best friend from high school? Her husband passed away this morning.

It wasn't entirely unexpected, but that doesn't make it any less upsetting. Still trying to get a hold of her, and hoping his family is en route to Iowa at this moment. If you're the prayer or vibes type, send some towards the Quad Cities tonight...
