I don't think I have a fever anymore, but I'm definitely moving into the realm of sleep-debt hallucinations. I was up til 2am last night, and then had a rude awakening at 4:30. Some guy was throwing up on the sidewalk. Ah, the joys of being surrounded by binge drinking college students. He was the stereotypical drunk - crying, talking to himself, throwing up over and over again. He started up again around 5, and again at 5:30. I think the rent-a-cops finally convinced him to go inside. Lovely stuff. I wonder what the sidewalk looks like this morning.
The real problem, though, is that I've got a wicked head cold. I haven't been this sick in ages. This is the full-on body ache, constant drippy nose variety. It's so bad that even my usual stand-by, DayQuil, isn't touching it. Two full days now and no sign of letting up.
I've been channel surfing since Mr. Drinks-a-Lot started his purge. Finally hit on C-SPAN covering the space shuttle launch live. There's about 45 minutes left before they're slated to launch. It's a lot of still shots of the shuttle on the launch pad, shimmering behind atmospheric distortion. Pretty cool stuff. I haven't watched a shuttle launch since Challenger. I hope that's not a loaded statement.
Anyhoo...returning to my bed now. I'm going to hope for many hours of sleep and lots of healing. Enough of this cold stuff already!
